Media Statement on the Passing of Oshtemo Firefighter Charlie Sullivan
Published on November 05, 2025
For Immediate Release: November 5, 2025
It is with profound sadness that the Oshtemo Township Fire Department announces the passing of firefighter Charlie Sullivan, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday November 5 in Kalamazoo.
Charlie was a valued member of our fire department family and a dedicated public servant who served the residents of Oshtemo Township with pride and compassion. His commitment to helping others, both in and out of uniform, exemplified the very best of what it means to be a firefighter.
Our hearts are with Charlie’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this incredibly difficult time. We have been in contact with his family and are offering every possible support as we begin to grieve this loss together.
Peer support and chaplain resources have been made available to our department members, and we ask that the public keep Charlie’s loved ones and the men and women of the Oshtemo Township Fire Department in their thoughts and prayers.
Memorial and service details will be shared once arrangements are finalized with the family.
Respectfully,
Gregory A. McComb
Fire Chief
Oshtemo Township Fire Department
