Cemeteries
There are three cemeteries located in the Township of Oshtemo. Cemetery burial rights are available to both residents and non-residents. Standard burial is available in all cemeteries, smaller cremain-only burial is available in Genessee Prairie and Hill, and green burial is available in West Oshtemo. Located at the corner of South First Street and Almena Drive.
Standard graves and green burial only. Cremains can be interred on standard grave sites, however. Above ground markers allowed. Call the Clerk's office to learn more about green burial 269-216-5224.

Ground Maintenance
- No grading, leveling or excavating upon a burial space shall be allowed without the permission of the Township Clerk.
- No shrubs, trees or evergreen shall be planted without the approval of the Township Clerk. Flowers must be placed within one foot of the marker. Upon a cremation space only, no plants or evergreens shall be permitted. One underground container for cut flowers will be permitted per cremation burial space.
- The Township reserves the right to remove or trim any tree, plant or shrub located within the cemetery in the interest of maintaining proper appearance and the use of the cemetery.
- Mounds which hinder the free use of a lawn mower or other gardening apparatus are prohibited.
- The Township shall have the right and authority to remove any and all flowers, emblems, or displays that are or become unsightly.
- Surfaces other than earth or sod are prohibited.
- All refuse of any kind or nature including, among others, dried flowers, wreaths, papers, and flower containers must be removed or deposited in containers located within the cemetery.
Markers
One above ground marker per grave is allowed, or a double marker centered over 2 adjoining graves. Possible burial combinations include: 1 full burial per grave, 1 full burial and 1 cremation per grave, 3 cremations per grave, 1 cremation per cremation site. Markers for cremation sites must be flush.
