INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES EXEMPTION EXTENSION
Attorney Reed explained that when we granted Intersource Recovery Systems an IFT Tax Exemption in September 1995, they had planned to have all their equipment installed by June 1997. They were unable to have the equipment installed by that deadline and requested a one year extension, until June 1998.
He pointed out that if we approve the extension, their exemption would be for six (6) years beginning December 1998.
Trustee Bushouse questioned if the Township can require a fee to cover the costs involved with these requests. He was advised, yes, the Board can establish a policy and a fee schedule. He felt we should be doing this.
Supervisor Fleckenstein stated the Board can review the issue before we have another request but we should act on this one first. Motion made by Bushouse, seconded by Johnson to adopt the resolution granting the one year extension. Roll call showed: Bushouse - yes Johnson - yes Block - yes Branch - yes Fleckenstein - yes
LANDFILL COST-SHARE GRANT
Supervisor Fleckenstein reported that this item would need to be postponed, probably until the April 14 meeting. More information was requested by our attorney.
COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENT DUES
The 1998 Dues for the Council of Governments (C.O.G.) was presented for payment. Our portion would be $2,000.00.
Clerk Branch stated she appreciated receiving the report on the activities of C.O.G. and was glad to see they have been successful with some projects, i.e.,Waste Reduction, HazMat and Court consolidation. She then moved to support C.O.G. and pay the 1998 Dues of $2,000.00. Motion seconded by Johnson. Carried.
OTHER TOWNSHIP BUSINESS
Clerk Branch read a thank you note that was received from the West Oshtemo Grange #1630. They were grateful for the many improvements that have been made to the Grange Hall building.
Trustee Bushouse suggested we show the date the minutes are approved on our Web Site.
He also commented that he has heard positive feedback about Supervisor Fleckenstein's visit to the Oshtemo Business Assoc. meeting. It was a good opportunity to share information and for the OBA to gain an understanding of township policies, etc.
There was no further business and the meeting adjourned at 7:22 p.m.
