OSHTEMO CHARTER TOWNSHIP
April 17, 2003
The Oshtemo Township Board held a special meeting at the Township Hall. Supervisor VanDyke called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

Also present was Undersherriff Mike Anderson, Capt. William Timmerman, Deputy Bill Daines, Deputy Dennis Otte, Deputy Rod Rought of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department and County Commissioner Bob Brink.
Topic of discussion was expansion of the police special assessment district, contracting with the County for additional deputies and establishing a satellite office in the Township Hall.
Captain Timmerman presented a very informative program of KCSD's activity in Oshtemo for 2002.
Discussion centered on the need for more deputies, how to obtain 24 hour a day, seven days a week coverage. It was recognized this is an economic decision for both the County and the Township.
Motion by Bushouse, second by Rakowski to authorize the Supervisor to send a letter to the Sheriff requesting three additional deputies at the current 50/50 contract agreement for the balance of 2003 and 2004. Carried.
There was no further business and the meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:20 p.m.
