Go! Green Oshtemo
Oshtemo Township continues to grow—in population, housing, and other development. Simultaneously, the Township is hearing community requests for more trails, natural features and open space conservation, and park amenities. People are asking for a quality of life that is connected by sidewalks and paths, and more thoughtful about the landscape. Thus the Township is accepting this challenge, rolling up our collective sleeves, and inviting the community to work with us on these requests.
GO! Green Oshtemo will be a comprehensive process to plan and implement community connections and open space. It will address conservation greenways, parks, recreation, non-motorized transportation, and even the cemeteries in Oshtemo Township. The result will be policy, plans, and implementation strategies responsive to expressed community desires. It is intended to be a citizen driven plan and your participation is vital.
In the weeks and months to follow, community members, Township staff, consultants, and elected officials will strategically work together to delve deeper into the issues. In order to cover the broad scope of work efficiently, we expect to form study groups looking into Greenways & Conservation, Parks & Recreation, Non-Motorized Transportation, and Cemeteries. An overarching GO! Green Oshtemo steering committee, made up of representatives from each of the study groups, will guide and coordinate the process.
Kick-off Meeting: Monday, March 5, 7 pm -8:30 pm at the Oshtemo Township Hall (Flyer)
