Ground Maintenance

Only trees or shrubs with shallow root systems can be planted.  Examples would be Flowering Crab Trees, Dogwood Trees, and Lilac Bushes.  Headstones are placed at the west end of the gravesite, therefore, flowers must be placed within 1 foot of the marker, or on the east side of the headstone.  The Cemeteries are maintained by the Township, therefore the Township Board reserves the right to remove or trim any tree, plant or shrub located within the cemetery in the interest of maintaining proper appearance and  the use of the cemetery.  The Township shall have the right and authority to remove any and all flowers, emblems, or displays that are or become   unsightly.  Attempts are made to keep cemeteries accessible in the winter, however, due to the limited area available to accumulate snow, plowing of drives will   occur at 4” or more snowfall.

Markers

One above ground marker per grave is allowed, or a double marker centered over 2 adjoining graves.  Possible burial combinations include: 1 full burial per grave, 1 full burial and 1 cremation per grave, 3 cremations per grave, 1 cremation per cremation site.  Markers for cremation sites must be flush.
